Programmable AC Power for Power-Environment Testing

The KIKUSUI PCR-LE / PCR-LE2 Series combines a linear-amplifier architecture with programmable AC, DC, and AC+DC output for reproducing a wide range of power conditions in laboratory and system-level testing.

The platform is designed for applications that require controlled voltage, frequency, waveform, and power-line conditions. Built-in functions support sequence operation, output measurement, harmonic measurement, and simulation of power outages, voltage dips, and voltage increases.

The PCR-LE Series covers single-phase systems from 500 VA to 9 kVA, with expansion options available for larger single-phase and multi-phase systems. The higher-capacity PCR-LE2 models provide single-phase, single-phase three-wire, and three-phase four-wire operation from 6 kVA to 27 kVA depending on configuration.

Linear-Amplifier AC Power Source

The PCR-LE / LE2 platform uses a linear-amplifier system designed for controlled, high-quality output and reproduction of a wide range of power conditions.

AC, DC, and AC+DC Output

Supports AC output from 1 V to 150 V in the L range or 2 V to 300 V in the H range, with DC and AC+DC capability up to ±212 V or ±424 V depending on range.

1 Hz to 999.9 Hz Frequency Range

Programmable output frequency supports testing across standard mains frequencies and a much wider range of simulated power environments. Certain three-phase configurations may have a 500 Hz upper limit.

Power-Line Disturbance Simulation

Simulate AC power abnormalities including power outages, voltage drops or dips, and voltage increases directly from the PCR-LE platform for electrical and electronic equipment testing.

Sequence and Measurement Functions

Built-in sequence operation works with integrated voltage, current, and power measurement functions. Harmonic measurement, sensing, output-current control, and output-impedance setting are also supported.

Flexible System Expansion

PCR-LE models of 2 kVA and above can be combined for parallel operation using the required expansion drivers, supporting up to five units and up to 27 kVA single-phase capacity. Multi-phase expansion is also supported with the appropriate options.

Multi-Phase Capability

The PCR-LE system can be expanded for single-phase three-wire and three-phase operation. PCR-LE2 models provide selectable single-phase, single-phase three-wire, and three-phase four-wire AC operation.

Remote Control Interfaces

RS232C is provided as the standard communication interface. Optional GPIB, USB, and LAN/LXI interfaces support integration into automated test systems.

DC and AC+DC modes apply to single-phase and single-phase three-wire operation. Certain 500 Hz limit versions restrict the upper frequency during three-phase operation.

Reverse Power Flow Testing

The PCR-LE / PCR-LE2 Series supports reverse-current conditions for testing grid-connected equipment, but this capability should not be confused with a regenerative AC power supply.

KIKUSUI specifies a maximum reverse current of 30% of the maximum RMS output current under defined operating conditions. This allows the source to be used when evaluating equipment capable of reverse power flow.

Reverse power received from the device under test is consumed internally by the PCR system rather than regenerated back to the utility grid.
