Leakage Current Testing for General Electrical Equipment

The KIKUSUI TOS3200 is designed to measure touch current and protective conductor current for general electrical equipment in electrical safety evaluation and compliance testing.

Three measurement functions are provided: Touch Current (TC), Protective Conductor Current (PCC), and METER mode. The tester supports DC, true RMS, and PEAK measurement and incorporates eight measurement circuit networks for touch-current testing.

The TOS3200 stores 51 predefined safety-test conditions for categories including information technology equipment, household appliances, audio/video equipment, luminaires, power tools, and measurement and control equipment. It is intended for general electrical equipment and is not designed for medical electrical equipment.

Touch Current Measurement

In TC mode, the TOS3200 uses a selected measurement circuit network to measure the voltage drop across its reference resistance and calculate touch current.

Protective Conductor Current Measurement

PCC mode measures current flowing through the protective earth conductor by measuring the voltage drop across a reference resistor connected in the protective-earth path.

Eight Built-In Measurement Networks

Networks A, B, B1, C, D, E, F, and G are built into the instrument, enabling different touch-current measurement configurations without requiring external network assembly.

DC, True RMS, and PEAK Measurement

Select DC, RMS, or PEAK measurement. DC/RMS current measurement extends to 30.0 mA, while PEAK measurement extends to 90.0 mA, depending on the selected range and measurement network.

51 Preset Test Conditions

Stored test conditions simplify setup for several categories of general electrical equipment covered by IEC/JIS-based safety requirements and Japan's Electrical Appliance and Material Safety Law.

Independent and Automatic Testing

Run individual TC, PCC, or METER tests or build automatic tests containing up to 100 test-condition steps for repeatable safety evaluation workflows.

Pass / Fail Judgment

Upper and lower current limits provide window-comparator judgment, with PASS, U-FAIL, and L-FAIL indication for production and compliance-oriented test processes.

USB / GPIB / RS232C Automation

Standard communication interfaces are complemented by a 25-pin SIGNAL I/O connector and a dedicated REMOTE connector for integration into automated test systems and external start/stop control.

Current measurement limits vary with measurement mode, range, and selected measurement network. The TOS3200 is intended for general electrical equipment and excludes medical electrical equipment.

Preset Test Conditions and Automated Safety Testing

The TOS3200 combines configurable leakage-current measurement with stored safety-test conditions and automatic multi-step execution for repeatable electrical safety evaluation.

Fifty-one test conditions are preset for equipment categories associated with IEC/JIS requirements and Japan's Electrical Appliance and Material Safety Law. Users can also configure independent tests and automatic test programs for application-specific test procedures.
