High-Voltage DC Electronic Load for High-Power Test Systems

The KIKUSUI PLZ-5WH2 Series is a high-voltage, high-capacity programmable DC electronic load designed for evaluation of large power supplies, rechargeable batteries, converters, and other high-power DC devices.

Five models provide rated power from 1 kW to 20 kW and rated current from 20 A to 400 A, with a common operating voltage range of 10 V to 1000 V. The series supports constant current, constant resistance, constant voltage, constant power, and arbitrary I-V characteristic operation.

Up to 1000 V High-voltage operating range for power conversion and high-voltage DC device testing.

Up to 20 A/µs Fast CC slew rate on the PLZ20005WH2 supports transient response testing.

Sequence programming, pulse and sine-current functions, synchronized operation, internal measurement and data logging, remote sensing, and standard LAN, USB, and RS232C interfaces support both standalone evaluation and automated test systems.

10 V to 1000 V Operating Range

All five PLZ-5WH2 models support a rated operating voltage range of 10 V to 1000 V. Current begins to flow at an input voltage of 1.5 V or less, while 10 V is required at rated current.

CC / CR / CV / CP / ARB Modes

Select constant current, constant resistance, constant voltage, or constant power operation, or use ARB mode to create arbitrary I-V load characteristics from multiple voltage/current points.

High-Speed Transient Testing

Programmable CC slew rate scales by model from up to 1 A/µs on the PLZ1005WH2 to as much as 20 A/µs on the PLZ20005WH2 for dynamic power-supply and battery evaluation.

Pulse and Sine Load Functions

Pulse operation in CC and CR modes supports repetitive dynamic load changes from 1 Hz to 10 kHz. A sine-current function in CC mode supports ripple-superimposition tests up to 10 kHz.

Advanced Sequence Programming

Create up to 30 programs and 10,000 total sequence steps. Step execution time ranges from 50 µs to 1000 hours with programmable load values, slew rate, load state, and triggers.

Measurement and Data Logging

Built-in voltage, current, power, elapsed-time, integrated-current, and integrated-power functions support test monitoring and battery discharge evaluation, with logged data exportable to USB memory in CSV format.

Flexible Parallel and Synchronized Operation

Up to five PLZ-5WH2 units can operate in parallel, including combinations of different PLZ-5WH2 models. Load on/off, measurements, and sequence execution can also be synchronized across multiple units.

LAN / USB / RS232C Standard

Standard LAN, USB, and RS232C interfaces simplify automated test-system integration. LAN provides LXI-compatible control, while GPIB is available as an option.

Rated operating voltage is 10 V to 1000 V. KIKUSUI separately specifies that current begins to flow at 1.5 V or less; this should not be interpreted as full rated-current operation at 1.5 V.

Dynamic Load Simulation and Automated Test Control

The PLZ-5WH2 Series combines high-voltage load capacity with programmable dynamic functions for transient, endurance, discharge, and automated power-device evaluation.

Pulse operation repeatedly switches between two load settings, while the sine function applies sinusoidal current variation. For more complex test profiles, the integrated sequence engine supports up to 30 programs and 10,000 total steps.
