Battery Charge / Discharge Control for Battery Evaluation

The KIKUSUI PFX2500 Series combines charge/discharge control, precision measurement, programmable test execution, and data acquisition for rechargeable battery evaluation.

The PFX2512 and PFX2532 operate with compatible KIKUSUI DC power supplies for charging and electronic loads for discharging. This architecture allows the charging source and discharge load to be selected according to the voltage, current, and power requirements of the battery test.
60 V / 50 A PFX2512 controller rating
60 V / 200 A PFX2532 controller rating
1 ms Minimum high-speed sampling interval
10,000 Steps Maximum pattern charge/discharge steps
Test conditions, execution, and result analysis are managed using the required BPChecker3000 software. The platform supports applications ranging from basic battery characterization and cycle testing to programmable charge/discharge simulation and battery management system validation.

Flexible Charge / Discharge System Architecture

Combine the PFX2500 controller with compatible KIKUSUI DC power supplies for charging and electronic loads for discharging, allowing the system configuration to be matched to the required battery test conditions.

Seamless Charge / Discharge Control

Simultaneous control of the charging power supply and discharge load enables seamless transition between charging and discharging, with a typical response within 50 ms under the specified test conditions.

Multiple Battery Test Modes

Supports nine charge/discharge modes including CC and CC-CV charging; CC, CP, CC-CV and CP-CV discharging; plus Pattern, I-V and Pause operation.

Up to 10,000 Pattern Steps

Programmable CC and CP patterns can contain up to 10,000 step values, with step durations as short as 100 ms for complex battery test and simulation profiles.

High-Speed Voltage and Current Sampling

Select 1 ms, 10 ms or 100 ms sampling for the main voltage and current measurements, with up to 6,000 sampled points stored for each profile.

Battery Measurement Expansion

Optional OP02-PFX voltage/temperature units can expand voltage and temperature measurement, while OP03-PFX voltmeter units with the SL01-PFX expansion unit support additional cell-voltage measurement points.

Hardware and Software Protection

Protection functions address conditions such as overcharge and overdischarge. The controller also incorporates a route switch, abnormal-condition interruption, and vibration detection for additional protection during battery testing.

System Architecture and Software

The PFX2500 Series is the control and measurement core of a configurable KIKUSUI battery charge/discharge system.

Each PFX2512 or PFX2532 provides one charge/discharge control channel. Charging power is supplied by a compatible external KIKUSUI DC power supply, while discharge energy is handled by a compatible KIKUSUI electronic load. The selected source, load, cabling, and test conditions determine the usable system power and operating range.
