The KIKUSUI PBZ SR Series is a high-power programmable bipolar power supply system built from three to five parallel PBZ units in a factory-configured Smart Rack. Twelve configurations provide bipolar output from ±20 V to ±80 V, with current capability up to ±100 A and approximately 2 kW.
Four-quadrant source/sink operation, 100 kHz CV frequency response, waveform generation, sequence control, and standard LAN, USB, GPIB, and RS232C interfaces support high-current dynamic DC testing and system integration.

High-Power Four-Quadrant Bipolar DC Testing

The KIKUSUI PBZ SR Series expands the PBZ bipolar power platform into a factory-configured Smart Rack system for applications requiring substantially higher source and sink current.

Each PBZ SR system combines three, four, or five identical PBZ power supply units in master-slave parallel operation. Twelve configurations cover ±20 V, ±40 V, ±60 V, and ±80 V output ranges with rated current up to ±100 A and output power up to approximately 2 kW.

Centralized master control coordinates the parallel units, displays the combined output current, and shuts down the complete system if an alarm occurs in one unit. Built-in waveform, sequence, and synchronized operation functions enable the PBZ SR to generate dynamic bipolar voltage and current profiles while retaining system-level control.

Four-Quadrant Source / Sink Operation

The PBZ SR can source and absorb power at both positive and negative output polarity, enabling continuous four-quadrant operation without changing output connections.

Smart Rack High-Current Architecture

Three, four, or five identical PBZ units are integrated in parallel using KIKUSUI's dedicated Smart Rack configuration to extend current capability beyond a standard standalone PBZ.

Up to ±100 A

The PBZ20-100 SR provides the highest rated current in the SR lineup at ±100 A, while other configurations provide higher voltage ranges up to ±80 V.

100 kHz CV Frequency Response

Constant-voltage operation provides a typical frequency response from DC to 100 kHz (-3 dB), supporting high-speed dynamic voltage generation.

Built-In Waveform Generation

Generate sine, square, and triangle waveforms as well as 16 user-defined arbitrary waveforms, with a selectable frequency range from 0.01 Hz to 100 kHz.

Sequence and Synchronized Operation

Built-in sequence and synchronized-operation functions support repeatable dynamic output profiles and coordinated test execution.

Centralized Master-Slave Control

The master unit controls the complete parallel system and displays the combined output current, while each slave unit continues to display its individual output current.

System-Wide Alarm Shutdown

If an alarm occurs in one unit, the Smart Rack safety architecture switches all units off to protect the system and connected load.

Standard Digital Interfaces

LAN with LXI capability, USB, GPIB, and RS232C are provided as standard for remote programming and automated test-system integration.

Integrated Measurement

Built-in voltage and current measurement supports DC, AC, DC+AC, and peak monitoring for dynamic bipolar output testing.

PBZ SR output limits are configuration dependent. Rated voltage, current, ripple, measurement resolution, CC frequency response, input current, and other characteristics vary by model and by the number and type of PBZ units installed in the Smart Rack.

Smart Rack Architecture and Dynamic Output Control

PBZ SR systems combine multiple identical PBZ power units into a factory-configured, calibrated high-current bipolar power platform.

Depending on the selected model, three, four, or five PBZ units operate in parallel under centralized master-slave control. This increases available current while retaining bipolar CV/CC operation, waveform generation, measurement, synchronized control, and four-quadrant source/sink capability.

KIKUSUI guarantees the PBZ SR specifications as a Smart Rack system and supplies test data with the configured system. For applications requiring still higher current, PBZ BP is a separate architecture and its specifications must not be applied to PBZ SR.
