KIKUSUI PBZ BP Series High Power Bipolar Power Supply

The KIKUSUI PBZ BP Series extends the PBZ Intelligent Bipolar Power Supply platform into a rack-integrated, high-current four-quadrant power system with capacities up to ±200 A and 4 kW.

PBZ BP systems combine six to ten PBZ20-20 or PBZ40-10 power supply units through master-slave parallel operation. The master unit provides centralized system control and displays the combined output current, allowing the complete Bipolar Pack to operate as a coordinated high-current bipolar power source.

Four-Quadrant Source and sink operation across positive and negative voltage/current regions
Up to ±200 A High-current configurations for demanding bipolar load conditions
Up to 4 kW Six-to-ten-unit PBZ master-slave Bipolar Pack architecture
80 kHz CV High-speed CV frequency response for dynamic waveform reproduction

The PBZ BP Series retains the PBZ platform's waveform generation, sequence, synchronization, and remote-control capabilities while extending the available current through integrated parallel operation. It is suited to high-current simulation and testing where both sourcing and sinking energy are required.

Four-Quadrant Source / Sink Operation

Bipolar CV/CC operation enables positive and negative voltage and current while supporting both power sourcing and power absorption. This allows direct operation with inductive and capacitive loads.

Up to ±200 A / 4 kW

Available configurations provide 2.4 kW to 4.0 kW of rated output, with ±20 V systems supporting up to ±200 A and ±40 V systems supporting up to ±100 A.

Bipolar Pack Architecture

Six to ten PBZ20-20 or PBZ40-10 units are integrated using master-slave parallel operation to create a coordinated high-current rack system.

Centralized Master Control

The master unit controls the slave units and displays the combined output-current value of the complete system. Slave units continue to display their individual output current.

System-Level Alarm Protection

If an alarm occurs in any one unit, the PBZ BP system switches all units off to protect the coordinated parallel configuration.

Built-In Waveform Generation

Sine, square, and triangle waveforms are supported together with 16 user-defined arbitrary waveforms for programmable power simulation.

Sequence Operation

The PBZ platform supports programmable sequences incorporating DC settings, AC waveform parameters, sweeps, and user-defined waveform operation.

High-Speed Dynamic Response

CV operation provides a typical frequency response from DC to 80 kHz, with selectable response settings down to 3.5 µs.

0.01 Hz to 100 kHz Waveform Frequency

Internal AC waveform generation supports programmable frequencies from 0.01 Hz to 100 kHz with 0.01 Hz resolution.

Synchronized Operation

Synchronization functions coordinate the operation of the multiple PBZ units that form the high-current Bipolar Pack system.

Remote System Integration

USB, GPIB, RS232C, and LAN/LXI connectivity are documented for PBZ BP system integration. Interface configuration should be confirmed for the specific ordered system.
