Anritsu MT8862A Wireless Connectivity Test Set

Anritsu
Supplier / Manufacturer: Anritsu
Model: MT8862A

WLAN RF test platform for IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be devices across the 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz bands. Its Network Mode establishes a standard WLAN connection with the device under test, allowing Tx and Rx RF performance to be evaluated under realistic operating conditions without placing the device into a dedicated manufacturing test mode.
With applicable hardware and software options, the MT8862A supports Wi-Fi 6/6E and Wi-Fi 7 measurements including 160 MHz and 320 MHz channels, 4096QAM, secure WPA3 connections, and 2×2 MIMO Tx power and Rx sensitivity evaluation.

Real-World Wi-Fi RF Evaluation from Legacy WLAN to Wi-Fi 7

The Anritsu MT8862A measures WLAN transmitter and receiver RF performance while communicating with the device under test using standard IEEE 802.11 protocol messaging.

Network Mode allows the MT8862A to operate as an access point or station and establish a normal WLAN connection with the DUT. This enables measurements using the device's actual shipping firmware rather than requiring a dedicated chipset or manufacturing test mode, helping engineers evaluate RF performance closer to real operating conditions.

Wi-Fi 7 Ready Supports IEEE 802.11be with 6 GHz operation, 4096QAM, and channel bandwidths up to 320 MHz with the required options.
Network Mode Measures WLAN RF performance through a standard protocol connection without requiring direct DUT test-mode control.
2x2 MIMO Two MT8862A units can be configured for 2x2 MIMO Tx power and Rx sensitivity measurements with the applicable software options.

The MT8862A supports transmitter measurements such as output power, modulation accuracy, frequency error, and spectrum characteristics, as well as receiver sensitivity testing using packet error rate. Secure WLAN connections, browser-based operation, protocol frame capture, and remote automation support make the platform suitable for development, validation, troubleshooting, and manufacturing inspection.

Network Mode for Real Operating Conditions

Establishes a WLAN connection with the DUT using standard protocol messaging so RF performance can be evaluated without placing the product into a dedicated manufacturing test mode.

IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be Support

Covers legacy WLAN through Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi 6E, and Wi-Fi 7 across the 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz frequency bands with the required hardware and software options.

Wi-Fi 7 320 MHz RF Testing

Supports IEEE 802.11be RF Tx and Rx measurements with channel bandwidths up to 320 MHz in the 6 GHz band and modulation up to 4096QAM.

Tx RF Characterization

Measures transmitter power, modulation accuracy (EVM), frequency-related characteristics, spectral flatness, spectrum mask, and other IEEE 802.11 transmitter parameters according to the selected WLAN standard.

Rx Sensitivity and PER

Calculates packet error rate using ACK frame counts and can automatically vary the RF level to generate receiver-sensitivity bathtub curves.

2x2 MIMO Evaluation

Two synchronized MT8862A units support 2x2 MIMO Tx power and receiver sensitivity measurements for compatible WLAN standards and option configurations.

Encrypted WLAN Connections

Optional security support enables measurements while maintaining WEP, WPA-Personal, WPA2-Personal, or WPA3-Personal connections instead of disabling normal device security.

Browser-Based Operation and Automation

The built-in Web server supports browser-based setup and result display over Ethernet, while remote commands support automated WLAN verification workflows.

Protocol Troubleshooting

Built-in WLAN frame capture logging can save protocol traffic in PCAP format for troubleshooting DUT connection and signaling problems.
