Broadband Vector Network Analysis from 70 kHz to 220 GHz

The Anritsu VectorStar ME7838 Series combines broadband RF, microwave, millimeter-wave, and sub-THz vector network analysis in a single measurement platform.

Current 2-port broadband configurations provide continuous single-sweep coverage from 70 kHz to 110 GHz with the ME7838EX, 125 GHz with the ME7838AX, 145 GHz with the ME7838D, and 220 GHz with the ME7838G. Banded millimeter-wave configurations can extend the system into waveguide bands up to 1.1 THz.

Compact Anritsu millimeter-wave modules based on nonlinear transmission line technology are designed for stable high-frequency measurements and positioning on wafer probe stations. The platform is suited to demanding broadband characterization where RF, microwave, and millimeter-wave behavior must be evaluated without stitching together separate measurement systems.

Continuous Broadband Single-Sweep Measurement

Measure continuously from 70 kHz into the millimeter-wave and sub-THz region without combining measurement results from multiple independent VNA systems. Broadband configurations extend to 110 GHz, 125 GHz, 145 GHz, or 220 GHz depending on the selected ME7838 model.

High Dynamic Range at Millimeter-Wave Frequencies

The ME7838 platform is designed for high-sensitivity broadband characterization. Anritsu currently specifies 109 dB dynamic range at 110 GHz and 102 dB at 220 GHz on the ME7838 product page. Exact dynamic range varies with frequency, model, and system configuration.

Stable Broadband Calibration

Anritsu's broadband architecture and compact millimeter-wave modules are designed to improve calibration and measurement stability. Current Anritsu documentation cites 0.1 dB measurement stability over 24 hours for the broadband system architecture.

Compact Millimeter-Wave Modules

Anritsu nonlinear transmission line technology enables compact, lightweight millimeter-wave modules that can be positioned close to the device under test and integrated with major wafer probe stations.

Broad Power Control

VectorStar provides high available test-port power and millimeter-wave electronic power leveling for demanding device measurements. Anritsu lists available power of up to +14 dBm at the platform level; actual port power depends on frequency, configuration, and installed options.

Banded Millimeter-Wave Extension to 1.1 THz

When frequencies above the broadband coaxial configuration are required, the ME7838 platform can be configured with banded millimeter-wave modules providing waveguide-band measurements up to 1.1 THz.
