High-Speed BERT and Signal Integrity Testing for Next-Generation Interfaces

The Anritsu MP1900A Signal Quality Analyzer-R is a modular high-performance bit error rate tester designed for electrical physical-layer validation of high-speed serial interfaces using NRZ, PAM4, and application-dependent PAM3 signaling.

Its 8-slot mainframe can be configured with pulse pattern generators, error detectors, jitter and noise sources, and signal-conditioning modules to build receiver-test and signal-integrity environments matched to the required interface and data rate. The platform supports applications ranging from multi-channel 32 Gbit/s NRZ measurements to high-baud-rate PAM4 testing.

Up to 64.2 Gbaud Generation High-speed PAM4 PPG configurations support rates to 64.2 Gbaud, with capability determined by installed modules and options.

Jitter + Noise Stress Create stressed receiver signals using configurable jitter, ISI, emphasis, and common- or differential-mode noise functions.

The MP1900A supports high-speed interface development including 100 GbE through 800 GbE, CEI interfaces, PCI Express, CXL, USB, Thunderbolt, DisplayPort, SAS, Fibre Channel, SERDES, and high-speed interconnects. Automated receiver-test environments can also combine the MP1900A with supported oscilloscopes and partner compliance software.

8-Slot Modular Architecture

Configure the MP1900A with PPG, error detector, jitter, noise, and signal-conditioning modules to match individual high-speed interface and receiver-test requirements.

NRZ and PAM4 Signal Testing

Supports multi-channel NRZ measurements to 32.1 Gbit/s and high-speed PAM4 generation and detection using application-specific PPG and ED modules.

High-Speed PAM4 Generation

The MU196020C PPG supports operation to 64.2 Gbaud with high-quality waveform generation, low intrinsic random jitter, programmable emphasis, and channel emulation functions.

PCI Express Receiver Testing

Supports PCI Express physical-layer receiver testing, Link Training, LTSSM analysis, stressed-signal generation, and interface debugging across multiple PCIe generations.

PCIe Gen7 Evaluation

Current MP1900A solutions support 128 GT/s PAM4 stressed-signal generation and automated receiver evaluation for PCIe 7 Base Specification development.

Jitter Generation and Tolerance Testing

Configurable jitter functions support sinusoidal, random, bounded uncorrelated, and spread-spectrum clock jitter for stressed receiver and jitter-tolerance measurements.

Voltage Noise Injection

Optional noise-generation hardware supports common-mode and differential-mode interference for reproducing stressed high-speed receiver conditions.

Emphasis, ISI, and Channel Emulation

PPG configurations support programmable emphasis, variable ISI, and S-parameter-based channel emulation for reproducing transmission-path loss and signal degradation.

High-Sensitivity Error Detection

Configurable error detector modules provide BER and symbol-error measurements with clock recovery and equalization options for high-speed receiver evaluation.

USB4 Version 2.0

Applicable MP1900A configurations support USB4 Version 2.0 receiver testing at up to 80 Gbit/s using PAM3 signaling, including stressed-signal and training-related evaluations.

Ethernet and Data-Center Interfaces

Supports physical-layer and BERT applications for 100 GbE, 200 GbE, 400 GbE, 800 GbE, CEI, SERDES, optical-module electrical interfaces, and high-speed interconnect development.

Automated Test Integration
