Integrated LTE, Cellular IoT, and Legacy UE RF Testing

The Anritsu MT8821C Radio Communication Analyzer is designed for R&D and evaluation of mobile devices, chipsets, smartphones, tablets, and IoT modules supporting LTE, LTE-Advanced, cellular IoT, and legacy cellular technologies.

The MT8821C combines cellular signaling with RF transmitter and receiver measurement functions, allowing engineers to evaluate UE RF performance while the device is communicating. Its measurement platform covers 30 MHz to 3.8 GHz as standard and can be expanded to 6 GHz with the appropriate option.

Preset 3GPP RF test conditions, automatic PASS/FAIL evaluation, an integrated touch-panel GUI, and remote-control capabilities help simplify repeatable RF evaluation. Advanced configurations support LTE carrier aggregation and MIMO testing, while dedicated software extends the platform for Cat-M1, NB-IoT, NTN NB-IoT, VoLTE, and other application-specific measurements.

Cellular UE RF TRX Testing

Perform transmitter and receiver measurements while communicating with the device under test using signaling and RF measurement functions designed around 3GPP and supported 3GPP2 UE RF test requirements.

LTE and LTE-Advanced Evaluation

Supports LTE and LTE-Advanced RF evaluation, including carrier aggregation, MIMO, LTE-U/LAA, RF calibration, and functional test configurations depending on installed hardware and software.

Cat-M1 and NB-IoT Testing

Dedicated measurement software supports LTE Cat-M1 and NB-IoT RF measurements and IP data transfer testing for development of cellular IoT devices and modules.

NTN NB-IoT RF Testing

Current MT8821C configurations extend cellular IoT RF TRX evaluation to NTN NB-IoT devices for non-terrestrial-network development applications.

One-Touch Measurement Workflow

Preset parameters based on RF test cases simplify setup, while automatic PASS/FAIL judgment and one-touch access to measurement views help accelerate repetitive device evaluation.

Advanced LTE MIMO and Carrier Aggregation

A single MT8821C supports LTE-Advanced 2CC 4x4 MIMO and 4CC 2x2 MIMO configurations. More complex carrier aggregation and MIMO configurations can be implemented by interlocking multiple analyzers.

End-to-End IP Data Testing

Built-in PC functionality supports IP data-transfer and throughput test environments without requiring a separate external server PC for supported applications.

Integrated RF Front End

Built-in RF switching and divider functions simplify conducted carrier aggregation and MIMO setups and help reduce the need for external RF combiners in supported configurations.

Touch-Panel GUI

The integrated large touch panel provides parameter search, bookmarking, graph and result views, and one-touch configuration functions for efficient interactive operation.

Automation and Remote Control

Ethernet and GPIB remote-control interfaces allow the MT8821C to be integrated into automated test systems, with Anritsu ATS tools available for supported 3GPP RF test workflows.

Cellular Technology and Software Support

MT8821C capabilities are expanded through dedicated hardware and measurement software, allowing the platform to be configured for the cellular technologies and test functions required by each application.

Current Anritsu support includes LTE/LTE-Advanced, LTE Cat-M1, NB-IoT, NTN NB-IoT, W-CDMA/HSPA, GSM/EGPRS, and TD-SCDMA/HSPA. Additional legacy cellular functions, including CDMA2000 configurations, are supported with applicable dedicated options.
