Clamp-on AC Pickup CLP-10
The ATSENSE Clamp-on AC Pickup CLP-10 is a compact rotation sensor designed for automotive engine R&D. By clamping onto existing harness cables, it extracts timing signals from ignition coil or injector current changes, even in models without secondary high-voltage cables. The sensor enables accurate engine rotation and timing analysis when connected with ATSENSE tachometers or pulse shapers. Featuring a wide current range (0.1–10 Arms, max 50 Arms) and a durable -20°C to 80°C operating range, it delivers a non-invasive, reliable solution for ignition and injection timing measurement.- The rotation signal is acquired from changes in the current in the ignition coil.
- Detection possible even for models with no secondary side high-voltage cable.
- Rotation measurements are possible by connecting to one of our ET-100 engine tachometers with pulse and analog output.
- By connecting one of our PS-100 pulse shaper, you can measure the timing of the ignition charge, discharge, and injection.
- Connection to the meter is made easy with the 5m coaxial cables and BNC connectors which have been supplied.
- For a specified mounting direction, a pulse is output on the plus side with a spark plug discharge and when the injection stops.
●Ignition

Current detection between battery and ignition coil
The pickup is clamped between the battery and ignition coil of a full transistor type ignition circuit.
When energizing begins, the transistor is turned on and a small negative voltage is generated. When energizing that turns the transistor off stops (at ignition), a positive spike voltage is generated.
When the installation direction is reversed, the voltage direction (positive, negative) is also reversed.
●Injection

Since the injection drive signal current is smaller than ignition, the output voltage is small.
