Precision Cogging Torque and Torque Ripple Measurement for Motor Development
The Sugawara ATM-100, ATV-100, and ATV-100S are precision motor test systems designed to measure cogging torque and torque ripple with high angular resolution and minimal mechanical influence.
Cogging torque can contribute to uneven rotation, vibration, noise, and control disturbances in permanent-magnet motors. Sugawara's vertical measurement architecture eliminates axle bearings from the torque sensor arrangement, reducing mechanical loss that could otherwise affect low-torque measurements.
The ATM-100 is optimized for lower-torque motors from 1 mN·m to 100 mN·m. The ATV-100 supports 100 mN·m to 10 N·m measurement at speeds up to 20 r/min, while the ATV-100S extends the same higher-torque platform to 50 r/min for faster motor evaluation.
