The ASTRODESIGN VG-879-B is a configurable digital video signal generator for development and evaluation of advanced displays, video interfaces, and high-resolution imaging systems.

The system uses a four-slot modular architecture that allows interface units to be selected according to the required test environment. Supported configurations include HDMI 2.1, 12G-SDI, DisplayPort 1.2a, V-by-One HS, and other video interfaces.

With the HDMI 2.1 interface unit, the VG-879-B supports FRL and TMDS signal generation, including uncompressed 8K/60p and 4K/120p signals. Optional test tools and image libraries extend the system for HDMI compliance pretesting, HDR evaluation, audio testing, and advanced display development.

HDMI 2.1 FRL & TMDS

With the VM-1876B-MD interface unit, the VG-879-B generates HDMI 2.1 signals using FRL up to 48 Gbps and TMDS up to 18 Gbps.

8K/60p & 4K/120p HDMI Output

Supports uncompressed 8K/60p YCbCr 4:2:0 and 4K/120p YCbCr 4:4:4 signal generation with the HDMI 2.1 interface configuration.

12G-SDI Signal Generation

The optional 12G-SDI interface unit supports 4K/60p over one 12G-SDI channel as well as 6G-SDI and 3G-SDI configurations.

DisplayPort 1.2a Support

A configurable DisplayPort interface enables signal generation for DisplayPort-based display and device evaluation.

V-by-One HS Support

Supports high-speed V-by-One HS signal generation for high-resolution panel and display-interface evaluation.

HDCP 1.4 / 2.3

HDMI 2.1 configurations support HDCP 1.4 and HDCP 2.3 for protected-content interface testing.

DSC 1.2 Support

HDMI 2.1 configurations support Display Stream Compression 1.2 for compressed high-resolution video testing.
